God Walks Beside Me

(By Trudy Miller at age 95)

My cross is not too heavy,
My road is not too rough,
Because God walks beside me
And to know this is enough.
Although I get so lonely
I know I’m not alone,
For God my Lord is with me
And He loves me as his own.
So though I’m tired and weary
And I wish my race were run,
God will only take me home
When my work on earth is done.
So let me stop complaining
About my load of care,
For God will always lighten it
When it gets too much to bear.
And if He does not ease my load,
He will give me strength to bear it.
For God in Love and Mercy
Is always near to share it.

Almighty God, Thou art the source of my strength
Help me to go on even when the going gets rough!

(This poem was written by Trudy Miller at age 95, after her husband Robert passed away in 2011.   Mrs. Miller went home to heaven two days before her 100th birthday, on February 17, 2017.)
