The Cross Of Calvary
(Written by Rhoda Griffin 2012)
Upon the hill of death it stands
To bridge the gulf twixt God and man
Fixed there by sin and guilt; its span?
The Cross of Calvary.
The turning point of history
The meeting place of Jew and Greek
Salvation offered full and free –
At the Cross of Calvary.
Upon that cross uplifted high
Stretched out from earth beneath to sky
Hangs One who for our sins must die
On the Cross of Calvary.
It stands – a shelter from the storm
It harbours souls waste and worn
It beacons light to tossed and torn
This Cross of Calvary.
