Mordecai’s Character

  • Character is what I am

Mordecai’s Compassion

  • Care for Esther
    • A Father to the Fatherless, a defender of Widows, is God in His holy habitation – Psalm 68:5
  • Care for Jews in Danger
    • Defend the poor and the fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and needy – Psalm 82:3

 

Mordecai’s Fear

  • Does Not Return to the Land
  • Hides his Identity
  • Do not be deceived “Evil company corrupts good habits”
    1 Corinthians 15:33

 

Mordecai’s Fear Turned to Courage

  • Would not Bow to Haman
  • Sackcloth and Ashes and Fasting
  • What shall it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his own soul? Mark 8:36

 

Mordecai’s Focus

  • Continually at the Gate
  • Not Distracted by Promotion
  • The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore if your eye is good, your whole body shall be full of light.  Matthew 6:22

 

Mordecai’s Influence for Good

  • Exhorts Esther to Act
  • Unites Jews to Fast
  • You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has lost his flavour, how shall it be seasoned?… …You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid – Matthew 5
