OUTLINE
What are Spiritual Gifts?
- An ability or person, given by God to the people of God, for the people of God
Purpose of Spiritual Gifts
- So that we can serve one another – 1 Peter 4.10
- For the building up of the saints – Ephesians 4.12
- To equip the saints for the ministry – Ephesians 4.12
- So that God may be glorified through Jesus Christ – 1 Peter 4.11
The Body
- Every part is dependent on the other parts (members)
- Each member has an important and distinct function
- The importance of a particular member is not determined by appearance
How are we to use our gifts?
- In love.
Gifts of Grace
- Teaching – Ability to clearly communicate an understanding of Scripture
- Speaking – Ability to preach or teach the word of God publicly
- Exhortation – Ability to motivate others to respond to Scripture
- Service/Ministry – Ability to discern needs and serve others
- Giving – Ability to liberally share resources to meet the needs of others
- Helps – Ability to meet the practical needs of the Church
- Mercy – Ability to come alongside with compassion to attend to someone in need
- Faith – An extraordinary amount of faith in God and his word
- Lead/Rule – Ability to guide others in the Way
- Administration – Ability to guide and direct the affairs of the Assembly
- Evangelist – The gift to effectively communicate the Gospel
- Shepherd/Pastor – One who cares for and spiritually nurtures believers
